Hello, my name is Sonia.

I am a tattoo artist from Perth, currently based in Fremantle at Elysian Tattoo Co.

I have always loved art and drawing, however never studied it formally at school or university (though it seemed like my dream job, tattooing was never a real option in my teenage brain). In 2014, after five years completing an unrelated degree, I decided to move abroad and this opened my eyes to the real possibility of a creative career path.

I have been tattooing for five years now, having started my apprenticeship in Christchurch, New Zealand just as COVID hit in early 2020. While working at Soular Tattoo throughout my apprenticeship and junior artist years, I found a particular passion for black and grey tattooing.

Black and grey realism, stipple work, and high-contrast illustrative are my current favourite styles, and I love tattooing portraits, mythology, animals, nature, flora, abstract imagery, pop culture, surrealism (think – melting clocks, chrome, smoke and water…) and anything dynamic and interesting.

I love working on large projects and small piece alike. If you are drawn to anything like this – please get in touch with your ideas, I would love to brainstorm with you and bring them to life!
